IBM Lotus Traveler: Lotus Notes Mobile E-Mail
Push e-mail software for Lotus Notes Users
RIM has enjoyed much market success and a solid relationship with IBM for many years but what about IBM Lotus Traveler that’s starting to appear in many environments?
First released in 2008, IBM made this Domino bolt-on free to its customers who were in maintenance. The initial take-up was slow and device support was limited but now we are seeing more and more requests to trial this Push e-mail offering from IBM.
When did you last look at Traveler?

Now supporting Windows Mobile and Symbian, the choice of handsets just got bigger. IBM is currently beta testing the Active Sync software for iPhone users which you can try via the IBM Lotus Greenhouse.
Offering encrypted e-mail, Calendar, to-dos, address book and Journal, IBM Lotus Traveler really does offer a good alternative.
Integration of device security setting in to IBM Lotus Domino policy settings and the ability to wipe a handset are just some of the enhanced facilities available in 8.5.
Currently the Traveler client is installed via a webpage from your server and we are starting to see handsets coming on to the market place with preinstalled Traveler clients (Nokia E72).
In these tough economic times it’s hard to ignore the costs as Traveler is free to any Domino customer who is in maintenance.
Time Technology can provide you with all the expertise and help you need to evaluate and pilot Traveler in your environment.
